The infamous Gong Show is back! It’s where fresh comedic talent face off for laughs and glory. With the audience in charge of the gong, anything can happen!
Topping off the night is the hilarious Annie McGrath, delivering a stand-up set so good it’ll have you ho-ho-howling with laughter.

Combining his confident on stage presence, dark humour, surreal material and his one-of-kind customised keyboard, Huge has quickly risen to become one the most unique acts in the UK.

With more than a decade’s experience as a comedy writer, Heidi enjoyed a meteoric rise through the stand-up comedy ranks. She has won two of the most coveted prizes in comedy; the So You Think You’re Funny? title at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2016, following in the footsteps of comedians including Peter Kay, Aisling Bea, Alan Carr and Lee Mack, before scooping the BBC New Comedy Award prize in 2017.
She has since gigged around the world, including performances at the prestigious Just For Laughs in Montreal and tour support for Joe Lycett, Phil Wang and Milton Jones.
Join us at our brand new home at the Portland Arms where Heidi will be joined by Kate Martin, Paul Merryk and Alex Freimuller. All brought together by Commoners’ resident MC Ali Warwood.
Ania is a comedian based in London. She’s a triple threat (bisexual, Gen Z, bad at cooking). Her sharp, wry writing combined with her warm conversational performance style make her a ‘glittering new talent’ (the i Paper) of the UK comedy scene.
Ania will be joined by Sam Fletcher and Nelson Gombakomba and the evening will be hosted by our resident MC and all round good egg, Ali Warwood.

Sophie Duker is a comedian and writer whose favourite things include breaking hearts, taking names and telling jokes with the confidence of a cis straight middle-class white man. Her Edinburgh Fringe Show, Venus, saw her nominated for the Best Newcomer award and gained critical acclaim and five star reviews, leading to a two week sold out run at Soho Theatre.
Katie Norris is a stand-up comedian, actress and singer. In 2023, she won the Musical Comedy Awards and was a semi-finalist at the BBC New Comedy Awards 2023.As an actor, Katie is a regular voice on BBC Radio 4, having appeared on The Now Show, DMs are Open and Newsjack.
Her first solo hour, Farm Fatale, will debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2024.
This is a double previews show. Both act are bringing their work in progress shows straight to the laps (and hearts of Commoners' Comedy). One not to be missed!
Alex Kealy is a stand-up comedian who mixes smart political material with self-deprecation and incisive observations. In his first year of performing, he reached the final of the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny competition and is now a “rising star of the British stand-up scene” (The List).
He has taken five hours of stand-up to the Edinburgh Fringe, the latest being 2022’s Winner Takes All, which was received to packed rooms and critical acclaim. The Daily Telegraph's 4-star review called him "Sharply witty, almost sexily cerebral" while The List raved about his "breakneck pace with surprising turns in eloquent comic’s wonderful new hour" (★★★★) and he was featured in The Times' Top Jokes of the Edinburgh Fringe. He is now taking Winner Takes All on a national tour in March and April 2023, after a sold-out run at the Soho Theatre.

Canadian surrealist and master story-teller Tony Law is a three-time Chortle Award winner, Amused Moose Best Show winner and Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee.

Naturally effusive and full of giddy joy, Birmingham’s Lindsey Santoro has emerged as one of the most original female voices to come out of the West Midlands, and is one of the best hidden gems on the comedy circuit.
Lindsey Santoro has won the BIGGEST Prize in Comedy for her critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe debut Pink Tinge. The Award, organised by NextUp, was decided by a public vote and a panel of judges.
Lindsey will be joined by John Pape, Kevin Daniels and Dylan Dodds and the night will be MC'd by our very own Ali Warwood.
Felicity Ward is a multi-award winning comedian, actor and writer who has toured her award-winning, sell-out shows across the world, winning hearts of audiences and critics everywhere she goes.
She is a regular face on many other international TV shows including Russell Howard's Good News (UK), Alan Davies' As Yet Untitled (UK), The John Bishop Show (UK), Mock the Week (UK), Gotham Comedy (US), Make You Laugh Out Loud (UK), Sam Delaney's News Thing (UK) and Access All Areas (CAN).
Felicity is a Chortle UK Club Comic of the Year nominee and has been nominated in Australia for Best Comedy at Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival, and won Best Australian Act at Perth Comedy Festival, and Sydney Comedy Festival, twice.

Travis Jay is a stand-up comedian, actor and radio presenter and Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year nominee.
A phenomenal live act, Travis most recently performed his 2021/22 show Travis Jay Live to a sold out Bloomsbury Theatre, which was also filmed as a special and will be released in 2022. He has previously played to sold out crowds at the world-famous West End Palladium Theatre as part of the U Got Jokes Comedy show and performed alongside Dave Chappelle.
Travis will be joined by the incredible Chelsea Birkby, Matt Hobs and Joe Venable and the night will be MC'd by our very own Ali Warwood.

Jodie Mitchell is a stand-up comedian, writer, actor, podcaster and Drag King. They’ve appeared on Comedy Central Live and Channel 4’s ‘Jokes Only A Lesbian Can Tell’ and wrote on season 3 of Netflix’s ‘Sex Education’.
They’re an Off Broadway Award winner for their work as macho alter-ego John Travulva with their drag king troupe ‘Pecs’, and co-founded the queer women, trans and non-binary comedy show ‘The LOL Word’, which currently has a residency at Soho Theatre.
Jodie will be joined by the brilliant Adam Vincent, Amy Jay and Andy Storey and the night will MC'd be our very own Ali Warwood.

As a rare right-winger, Geoff Norcott is a unique voice in British comedy. Having appeared on Live at the Apollo, Mash Report, Mock the Week and Question Time he’s built up a significant live following with sell-out Edinburgh runs and two national tours. Operating outside the usual comedic commentary on politics and social issues, Geoff has carved a real niche for himself. With a documentary, bespoke TV formats plus a UK and international tour on the horizon, 2019 is set to be an even bigger year.

Sophie is bringing her brand new show straight to Commoners' before heading up to the Edinburgh fringe. We cannot wait!
Despite extensive grooming for more serious careers at Eton and Oxford, Ivo (now 32) has spent his entire adult life on the stand-up circuit. He has detailed the various developments in his relationships/neuroses over seven sell-out solo shows, including 2019’s The Game of Life, which received nominations for Best Show and Best Joke at that year’s Edinburgh Fringe.
TV appearances include Have I Got News for You, QI, The Last Leg, Mock the Week, and Live at the Apollo and Channel 4’s Taskmaster.
August 2023 sees Ivo travel to Edinburgh and then nationwide with his new show, Organised Fun and we are absolutely delighted that Ivo is coming to join us at Commoners' for our Edinburgh preview night.
Steve Bugeja is one of the circuit’s most exciting comedians, writers and performers. Steve co-created and co-wrote the ITV2 sitcom Buffering with Iain Stirling. A second series of the fresh new comedy showcasing Iain and Steve’s brilliantly funny and razor-sharp millennial voices will air in January 2023.
Steve previously hosted the BBC Radio 4 series Economics with Subtitles and has made numerous appearances on TV shows including The Russell Howard Hour (Sky One), Love Island: Aftersun (ITV2), Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central (Comedy Central) and Zoe Ball on Saturday (ITV1).
Steve will be joined by the incredible Shalaka Kurup, Garrie Grubb and Alexis Roy.

Jordan won the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Comedy Show at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe with his hit show I’ve Got Nothing. He was also nominated for the same award in 2017 and won the Chortle Comedian’s Comedian Award in 2018.
As well as being a critically acclaimed comedian Jordan is also an actor and writer, with numerous projects in development for TV and radio. Recently, he created his own series of shorts for Channel 4.
Jordan will be joined by the incredible Kwame Asante and Hazel Donovan and Sean Gorman.

Hunter. She has been a panellist on BBC Radio 4’s News Quiz and Where’s the F In News? and The Blame Game (BBC Northern Ireland). most recently Eleanor appears in Holding, a new TV adaptation of Graham Norton’s debut novel.
Eleanor’s style is “deceptively sharp” (Fest Mag) and filled with her trademark acerbic wit.

Known for being a comedy powerhouse with an electric stage presence, Helen is one of the UK’s most exciting rising stand up stars.
TV appearances include Live At The Apollo (BBC2), Stand Up For Live Comedy: BBC Presents (BBC 1 & 3) and Hypothetical (Dave) amongst lots of others.
In August 2019, her debut show at the Edinburgh Festival beat out 700 other shows to be nominated for the Best Newcomer Award. In February 2020 she performed the show at the prestigious Soho Theatre in London.

Bilal Zafar was nominated for the lastminute.com Best Newcomer Award for his debut show, CAKES, at the Edinburgh Fringe. Bilal also won the New Act of the Year award joining the company of previous winners such as Stewart Lee, Ardal O’Hanlon, Joe Wilkinson and Linda Smith.
He was the runner up at the Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year competition. He has appeared on BBC3, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Asian Network, and has written for The Independent.
We cannot wait to finally welcome him into the Commoners' fold!

Mark is an exceptional one-liner comedian. It won him a place in Dave’s prestigious Best Joke of The Fringe in Edinburgh 2017. His solo show at the festival, One-Linerer was also a huge hit, with sell out shows every day and was nominated Best Show by the Amused Moose Comedy Award Fringe Show 2017. He then continued this success with his follow-up show, One-Linererer, which was also a sell out!

Since their formation Shelf have performed across the UK comedy and festival circuits and their work has appeared on NextUp, LADBible, and on BBC3 with over one million views. They were featured as part of Penguin’s audiobook Edinburgh Unlocked in 2020. Finalists: Sketchfest’s Best New Act 2016; Funny Women 2020; Musical Comedy Awards 2020.
Shelf also write and perform for children. They are regulars at Comedy Club 4 Kids’ shows across the UK, and have created content for Girl Guides. Their original scripted YA comedy series is currently under option.

Laura Smyth is a native East Londoner and mother of three and her comedy is autobiographical and observational as she explores her place in the stupid world.
Laura has made a huge impact on the circuit, winning The Funny Women Awards in 2019 and has gone on to have roaring success across TV and radio.
